Creators' Corner

WITCH: Historical Horror Roleplaying

A new Kickstrter project from NamaStacy, the Colorado Springs GM and creator of the Moon Gate Exploration Co. WITCH blends historical witchcraft practices with the dark, ominous atmopshere emblematic of games in the Mörk Borg family.

Real-world witch-trials, demonologies, and folk beliefs form the bones of the setting, but fantasy is the lifeblood that animates the horrific tale. A villiage rumor can summon horrors that never existed...until now. A child's night terrors might be prophecy. A witch's mark might actually move...

It looks like WITCH will be a complete Borg varient that will take players on a journey through the various forms of folk magic practiced across the Americas in the 17th Century and their accompanying terrors. It's very cool to see a sense of historical authenticity bleed into the high weirdness of Mörk Borg, though it's also compatible with 5E if you prefer.

Check it out on Kickstarter! The campaign runs until the middle of April.

SEL Quest: Social Emotional Learning Through Role-Play

SEL Quest is a unique program that uses guided role-playing games (RPGs) to teach social-emotional skills.

In small group sessions, participants create characters and navigate imaginative scenarios that mirror real-life emotional and social challenges. Led by a trained facilitator, each session focuses on developing key skills like empathy, emotional regulation, communication, and teamwork. The immersive, story-driven format encourages self-expression, problem-solving, and confidence in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Each session ends with a reflection to help participants connect in-game experiences to their real lives.

SEL Quest is ideal for parents, educators, therapists, and youth organizations seeking a creative, engaging way to support emotional growth.

This 12-session program uses Dungeons & Dragons to help kids build confidence, agency, and collaborative skills in an inclusive, neuro-affirming environment. Registration begins in April.

Ship of the Dead Podcast

Colorado's own Limithron have been absolutely on fire with the latest season of their podcast. Each episode is a treasure trove of valuable information – very fitting for the crew from Pirate Borg! I especially wanted to shout out their most recent episode with Professor DM of Dungeon Craft. The Professor's YouTube channel has dozens of videos on creating, prepping, and running TTRPGs, which have been incredibly useful to me as a game master. For years, I've recommended the channel to anyone who wants to start running games or add some new tools to their GM style . This conversation in particular is focused on how to structure an adventure that'll feel immersive and engaging for your players.

To play with some of the folks from Limithron in person, check out the Ship of the Dead Meetup and the SOTD Discord.

Well that's all for this edition of the RPG Colorado Newsletter! Thank you very much for reading. We hope you find some games to play!
