Welcome back, adventurers, to the RPG Colorado newsletter! Here you'll find a list of events from the RPG Colorado community, delivered to your inbox and organized on our handy calendar.

Mondays & Thursdays 6-9pm - D&D Game Night - Atomic Goblin Games - Longmont
"Join us every Monday and Thursday night for Dungeons & Dragons Game Night at Atomic Goblin Games! Whether you are completely new to D&D or a seasoned adventurer, our weekly organized play night is a fun and welcoming way to explore the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons.
This is a free-to-play event open to all experience levels. New players are always welcome, and we are happy to help teach you how to play. First-time players will be assisted by our always welcoming Dungeon Masters, who are ready to bring you into the game no matter your skill level — new or seasoned.
Our games are designed around short-burst campaigns typically lasting 2–4 sessions, making it easy for new players and drop-in adventurers to jump right into the action without a long-term commitment.
Whether you are looking for heroic battles, memorable roleplaying, dangerous dungeons, or simply a great community to game with, there is always a seat waiting for you at Atomic Goblin Games."
Tues 8/18 5-8pm (Every other Tues for 5 weeks)- Table Top Time - D&D @ MATTER - The Shop at MATTER - Denver
"MATTER's inaugural, in-house, bi-monthly D&D campaign Table Top Time is coming up! Whether you're a TTRPG pro or you've never rolled a D20 in your life, we would love to have you at the table. This is a beginner friendly campaign. Get in on the role-playing, sword-wielding, spell-slinging shenanigans with us, starting August 18th. This campaign is exclusively written and run by our amazing, professional DM, Gaven, so you won't be able to play this campaign anywhere else.
Five session campaign, $25 per session, every other Tuesday from 5pm-8pm at the Shop at MATTER.
The cost of your ticket also gets you a MATTER-designed character sheet, access to the complete digital player handbook, and some awesome, customizable swag to purchase! It also goes directly to the DM, to pay them for their time and hard work writing and running the campaign."

Wed 8/19 (Every Wed) 6:30-10:30pm - Dungeons & Dragons Campaign Meetup - The Wizard's Chest - Denver
"Experience Level: Beginners welcome, no experience needed but first-time players are recommended to attend our Learn-to-Play D&D events. Access to material may be required (dice, writing utensils, rulebooks, etc.).
Games are NOT drop-in. Games are not open to observation by non-participants.

Fri 8/21 6pm (Four Week Campaign)- Fantasy Game Night - Carw Gwyn - Denver
"Carw Gwyn is proud to announce the return of Fantasy Game Night on Friday, August 21st. Bring your friends and your games to join an evening of rolepaying, tabletop games, food, drinks, and good company! For the first time, Carw Gwyn will be hosting two 4-session roleplaying campaigns meeting weekly on Fridays at 6:00pm, with in-house game masters leading a select number of players through curated adventures!
Choose one campaign or the other, and prepare to be taken into realms of collaborative fantasy. Both are designed to accommodate players of any experience level:
Shards of the Tideheart: A Pirate D&D Adventure with an original story
- Some wrecks are better left at the bottom. Come dig one up anyway. A coral-choked wreck holds more than treasure. A pirate captain slowly turning to something else wants what you're carrying. Something old and best forgotten is running out of patience.
Escaping Avernus: A D&D campaign in a popular fantasy world
- A cult working in the shadows and underbelly of the city has been kidnapping people, performing unholy rituals, and trying to summon something from nightmares. Fight, sneak, and deceive your way through the cunning infernal legions of hell, and put a stop to the rituals before the cult succeeds in bringing the city to its knees.
Each campaign will accommodate six players, with one of each character class shown here to drive the story – first come, first served: Fighter / Rogue / Cleric / Bard / Barbarian / Warlock

Pre-registration for these two campaigns is required. Game masters will provide further details via e-mail once registration is complete. Registration is $65 per person and includes four consecutive Friday evening sessions – August 21, 28, and Sept 4, 11.
Other games are welcome, but seating is limited, so come early for your best chance. Remember that lighting at Carw Gwyn can be “atmospheric,” so bring supplemental lighting if necessary. PLEASE NOTE, there will be a $30 MINIMUM order per person per night, whether joining the curated campaigns or playing independently."
Wed 8/26 6:30-8pm - Dr. Jackson Crawford Speaking Event - Meidkreiger Meadery - Loveland
Known for making ancient worlds accessible and engaging, Dr. Crawford has taught at UCLA, UC Berkeley, and the University of Colorado, and has contributed his expertise to projects such as Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Disney’s Frozen.
This special evening will offer fascinating insights into Norse history and storytelling, presented by one of the field’s most respected voices. We invite you to join us for an event that promises both inspiration and discovery.

Thus 8/27 - Sun 8/30 - Tacticon - Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver Conference Center - Aurora
"We build our community through play! We play tabletop games including board games, miniatures, card games and role playing games of all kinds! We offer games you've definitely heard of, games you've always wanted to play but never had the chance and new games brought to you from the creativity of the proud members of the Nerd Herd!
If you've never played or if you're a veteran gamer we welcome you to our tables!"
Tacticon is one of the biggest gaming focused conventions in Colorado. There's over 350 events on the schedule, more than half of which are RPG sessions. There's also a games library with over 250 titles, dozens of local exhibitors, and you can even prototype a new card based dungeon adventure game.
Weekend and daily badges are still available and plenty of games have open slots. We hope to see you there playing games with our awesome community. We plan on doing a full feature on the vendors, and maybe some of the games, after Tacticon but below and in Creator's Corner we have some we'd like to highlight before the show.
Sat 8/29 - 6pm – Ship of the Dead RPG Zine & Book Swap at Tacticon - Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver Conference Center - Aurora
The Ship of the Dead is setting sail to Tacticon! There will be the usual gaming meetup Saturday at 6pm and after there will be an RPG Swap. You'll need a Tacticon badge to play, but not one to go to the RPG swap as it's in the lobby.
Tyler is going to run Invincible, and of course there will be some Pirate Borg being played throughout the weekend. You can get your tickets for the gaming here.
Bring your unwanted RPG treasures and trade them for something new!
Here’s how it works:
- Check in Your Items
When you arrive, we’ll tally your contributions into points:
- Pamphlets = 1 point
- Zines = 2 points
- Hardcover books = 3 points
- Box sets or slipcase sets = 5 points
- The Draft
Once everyone’s items are checked in, we’ll take turns picking from the swap table.
Turn order is based on your total points (highest goes first). We’ll go down the list, then loop back around until everyone’s had a turn.
Spend your points however you like (e.g., 1 point for 1 zine, 5 points for a box set, etc.) — on any item in the swap!
Whether you bring a handful of pamphlets or a stack of hardcovers, you’ll leave with something new to inspire your next game. Get your tickets to the RPG Swap here. RPG pickup games may happen afterwards!
Note: A badge to Tacticon is required to play in the game - but not to come to the draft (as it's in the lobby) most likely required.

Creators' Corner
Healing Veterans at Tacticon
"Join fellow Veterans at Tacticon for four days of role-playing games, community, and connection.
Veteran Gamers will have a dedicated room away from the main convention space. If you enjoy RPGs online but are uncertain about large in-person events, this is a chance to roll dice, meet others, and join the adventure!
US Military Veterans are eligible to receive a 4-day badge for Tacticon (August 27-30th), which will allow you to register and play “Healing Veterans” special RPG sessions, as well as visit the Vendor Hall and play in the open gaming area. You will not be able to register for any other event during the convention."
Healing Vets sounds like a lovely program, they've got a dozen events scheduled for the weekend. If you or someone you know is a Veteran (first off, thank you for your service), I hope you check this out so the program can grow and thrive for our community.
Penfeather Games
"Penfeather Games creates atmospheric tabletop roleplaying games that feature themes like environmentalism, found family, and social intrigue. Our flagship campaign system Heliosail is a pulpy solarpunk space pirate game that was successfully crowdfunded in 2025.

One Tacticon vendor we wanted to shout out is Penfeather Games. We love a local game maker and Heliosail is a gorgeous game. Be sure to check them out, either on their website or during the convention!
